Laser engraving is using a laser beam to remove a thin layer of material, leaving a permanent surface particularly suited for labeling and decoration. It has five main advantages: 1. Laser marking is permanent and can withstand rigorous cleaning. 2. Laser marking can be achieved on curved surfaces. 3. The laser uses a beam of light as the engraving tool, so no part of the machinery actually touches the material being engraved. 4. Laser engraving produces a permanent, crisp, highly detailed mark, engraving images. 5. The engraving quality is unmatched for reproducing graphics.

Acrylic is the most popular material when it comes to the quantities that are laser cut, because it can be engraved and cut very easily, comes in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, and the cost can be relatively inexpensive. Certain types of acrylic are best suited for certain jobs and products. There are two kinds of acrylic: cast acrylic and extruded acrylic. Cast acrylic is used for almost all engraving purposes, particularly for engraving gifts, awards and plaques. This is because the frost produced provides a nice white contrast against the clear material. Extruded acrylic remains clear when engraved but does not produce an adequate contrast. However, extruded acrylic is ideal if you are going to vector cut only, which makes it best suited for letters and signs.

Laser Cutting

Laser cutting is an outstanding process for making fine detail, sharp corners, and smooth polished edges - all with the greatest accuracy. It is a non contact form of machining that uses a highly focused laser beam to vaporize the material as it cuts, leaving behind a edge that is transparent, polished, and thereby rarely requires more machining.

Sanbo¡¯s laser cutting machines have the ability to create custom parts from a variety of materials. It also allows us to realize intricate designs that are too complex to be created by hand. We can laser cut almost anything you can draw, including sharp angles, smooth curves, small screw holes, and complex lace designs. To order custom laser-cut parts, all you have to do is drawing your part in CAD or vector-graphics drawing software, deciding which materials to use, submitting your files to us for a quote, and responding to the quote with a phone call to start the job. If your prefer, you may place a small, initial order to test a design, and follow up with a larger order once you verify the parts.
